Teaching Assistant

Location: Small Heath, Birmingham

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children’s learning? Balfor Education is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our team in Small Heath, Birmingham, on a temporary basis until the end of the academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of primary school students, working with small intervention groups and providing 1:1 support to children with more severe needs.

Role Overview: As a Temporary KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and social development of students in Key Stage 2. You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions and provide personalized support to small groups and individual students, including those with more severe educational needs. Your patience, empathy, and ability to adapt strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners will be essential in helping students thrive in their educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering targeted interventions and supporting small group activities.
  • Provide 1:1 support to children with more severe educational needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
  • Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a Key Stage 2 setting.
  • Understanding of different learning needs and experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in children’s lives.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the school environment.
